Tiffany Gets Injunction Against Counterfeiter

Tiffany & Co. has obtained an injunction from a US District Court to prevent Katz Imports from continuing to sell counterfeit Tiffany jewelry on eBay under the seller name "Diamondpaige" and through its own website.

According to the law firm Duane Morris LLP, Tiffany obtained the injunction against Katz Imports, a Philadelphia jewelry company, after the District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania issued a seizure order, which was executed by the United States Marshals Service. The Marshals Service seized diamond rings and bracelets located on the premises of Katz Imports and sales receipts.

Following an investigation, Tiffany accuses Katz Imports of holding “numerous sales of counterfeit Tiffany jewelry on eBay over a period of several years, which generated revenue in excess of $500,000.”

In a lawsuit against Katz Imports, Tiffany is seeking to prevent further sales of counterfeit jewelry, the disgorgement of profits earned from sales of counterfeit jewelry, and other penalties and legal remedies available under both state and federal law.

Tiffany’s lawsuit is part of its ongoing program to prevent counterfeiting and trademark infringement.
