Gold Council Announces May Gold Month
March 06, 05National retailers Finlay's, JCPenney, Macy’s West, Sterling Jewelers Inc. and Zales are joining the World Gold Council (WGC), Aurafin-OroAmerica and Jewelry.com to promote gold jewelry sales in May following the success of the first such May promotion last year.
The promotion aims to take advantage of the opportunities for gift buying that May presents, including Mother’s Day, graduation and the bridal season, as well as the self-purchase market.
Throughout May, the five major retailers will offer designs in gold jewelry, and a national media blitz, united by the WGC’s “Speak Gold” campaign theme, will run in leading magazines such as InStyle, Lucky, and Marie Claire to reinforce the message that May is the ideal time for consumers to wear fine gold jewelry or buy it for loved ones.
In addition, a May is Gold Month Sweepstakes will offer consumers the chance to win daily ‘instant win’ prizes, and a Grand Prize of a $5,000 gold jewelry wardrobe to be awarded at the end of the month.
