Avi Paz Elected IDE President
April 21, 05Avi Paz won the second round election, receiving 834 votes, giving him 53.77 percent of the total votes and will be the next President of the Israel Diamond Exchange, replacing Shmuel Schnitzer.

During his campaign Paz repeatedly said that the vote is for the industry's livelihood. On ties with the international trade, he said that if elected president he will actively pursue his ties with the Canadian producers to the benefit of the Israeli diamond industry and present Belgian diamond companies interested in opening offices in Israel with the opportunities to develop economic cooperation with Israeli firms.
He also promised to harness the help of the Israeli government to bring business to Israel.
Locally, Paz says he wants to bring the Diamond Institute into the 21st century and by using the collective strength of the Exchange to lower costs on insurance, shipments and bank interest.
A son of a diamond family from Belgium, he is the owner of Avi Paz Fancy.
