eBay India First Global Transaction – A Diamond

Online marketplace eBay opened its Indian site on March 24, and its first global transaction was a diamond solitaire sold by an Indian dentist to a buyer in Dallas, Texas.

 

Described as a ‘dentist with a passion for e-commerce’, Dr. Vineet Srinivasan from Illusions, India sold the diamond to Mark Baugh.

“Dr. Srinivasan was the first of 378 Indian sellers who have sold to buyers from 31 countries since the launch of eBay India,” said Avnish Bajaj, Country Manager, eBay India. “In fact, 16 items sell to international buyers every hour on eBay India.”

The site was formerly known as Baazee.com, and was re-launched as eBay India a month ago after eBay integrated its technologies with Baazee’s.
