India to Host WFDB-IDMA President’s Meeting Next Month
October 06, 05India is hosting the President’s Meeting of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) and International Diamond Manufacturers Association (IDMA) in November.
The meeting is being co-hosted by the Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) and The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC). This is the first time that this prestigious event is being held in India.
The Presidents’ Meeting is the decision making forum in the period between the bi-annual World Congresses of the WFDB and IDMA.
Anoop Mehta, President, BDB and a member of the Executive Committee of the WFDB, says, “The Presidents Meeting is an important platform where the leaders of the world diamond industry deliberate on key business issues including current concerns like rough supply, pricing, synthetics etc.”
Bakul Mehta, Chairman of the GJEPC, said, “The choice of India as a venue is most appropriate given the key role that the country plays in the global diamond industry as the largest manufacturer of cut and polished diamonds and a rapidly developing jewelry centre as well.”
The participants will visit the new BDB Complex at Bandra Kurla, which will soon become the worlds largest diamond trading complex and to jewelry manufacturing units at SEEPZ.
