GJEPC Celebrates Local Gem & Jewelry Industry
January 23, 06The Indian diamond industry celebrated its might in Mumbai last week with a sparkling event that mixed high fashion with diplomacy, banking with glitter, and spotlighted the thriving local diamond industry.
The event, titled India Evening, was devoted to showcasing the essence of the Indian gem and jewelry industry. Another goal of the evening was to strengthen bilateral trade relations between India and the represented countries, such as Canada, Belgium and Russia.
Bakul R. Mehta, chairman of the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), which organized the evening, in his address to the crowd of ministers, counsel generals, and trade attaches, said, “Over the years we have taken efforts to strengthen our existing ties with some countries and forged new relationships with the others. The council will continue its promotional efforts and would like to take these partnerships forward to be even more mutually beneficial.”
A fashion show showcasing the best of Indian jewelry followed the speeches.
