Amazon Q4 Jewelry Sales Increase More than 100%
February 07, 06Amazon.com, Inc. today announced that fourth quarter 2005 jewelry sales increased more than 100 percent year-over-year. The company attributes the growth to various enhancements to the jewelry & watches store throughout the year, including the addition of loose diamonds, more than 1,000 new watch styles, Amazon diamond search and create your own ring.
"Now more than two years after launch, growth in the Amazon.com jewelry & watches store is stronger than ever," said Steven Goldsmith, vice president, Amazon.com jewelry & watches."
Summing up the holiday sales season, the online retailer had previously said that high-end jewelry had been more popular than ever with Amazon.com shoppers during the festive period. Customers purchased several thousand styles of jewelry including pieces of 18 karat gold, diamond solitaire rings, diamond stud earrings and pearl strands in varying shapes, sizes and colors.
Amazon's most expensive sale during the holiday season was a pair of $94,000 diamond earrings.
