Signet Q1 Like for Like Sales Up 2.8%
May 08, 06Anglo-American jewelry retailer Signet Group plc like for like sales rose by 2.8 percent in the first quarter from 29 January to 29 April 2006. Total sales were up by 13.7 percent on a reported basis to £419.6 million ($780.1 million) compared to £369.2 million ($684.4 million) for the same period in 2005. At constant exchange rates, the increase was 7.2 percent due to the strengthening of the U.S. dollar, said the company.
Sales in the
U.K sales totaled £91.3 million ($169.7 million), a decrease of 0.7 percent. Like for like sales at the H.Samuel division fell by 2.4 percent, while Ernest Jones increased its performance by 1.3 percent.
