Amazon.com Q2 Sales Up 35% from 2006
July 25, 07Amazon.com yesterday (Tuesday) released its financial results for its second quarter, ending June 30, 2007. They reported a net sales increase of 35 percent to $2.89 billion, compared with $2.14 billion in the second quarter of 2006.
Media sales grew by 27 percent to $1.83 billion, from $1.45 billion in 2006, while electronics and other general merchandise grew by 55 percent to $970 million.
Amazon Europe launched a jewelry and watches store on its amazon.co.uk website and a watches store on its amazon.de website, both offering items from brands such as Rotary, Diesel, Timex and Citizen.
"Our strong revenue growth this quarter was fueled by low prices and the added convenience of Amazon Prime," said Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon.
