AGTA Declares Support for Myanmar Export Embargo

The American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) is joining with other industry member organizations, in voicing its support for proposed U.S. legislation that will strengthen the embargo on Myanmar (Burma) exports, including gemstones.

The proposed legislation, now pending in the U.S. Congress, got the support of CIBJO and the Jewelers of America.

“We earnestly support the people of Burma and desire to work closely with the United States government to represent the interests of the colored gemstone and cultures pearl industry in any and all efforts to improve the human condition throughout the globe,” the AGTA said in a statement.
