Israel Starts the Year with Sharp Rise in Rough Diamond Trade
February 03, 08Israel started 2008 with a strong appetite for rough diamonds, with net trade cumulating to $785 million. Israel imported $342 million worth of rough diamonds in January, a 27 percent rise over $269 million in January 2007.
Net exports in January totaled $443 million, soaring nearly 78 percent over the $248 million in rough diamond exports the year before.
The figures, released by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor, did not include data on the weight of goods.
