In the Diamond Commission report, the authors press for a resolution to some of the “hot” issues that have been the cause of friction at earlier congresses, such as the issue of how to label to synthetic diamonds. The CDC will also discuss standards for diamond grading labs.
CIBJO notes that, while the CDC does not intend to compromise on the need for full disclosure of the origin and character of synthetic diamonds, it will propose that the terms “man-made,” “laboratory created” or “[company name]-created” be deemed equally acceptable when these diamonds are traded.
