Dubai City of Gold Conference to Discuss Rising Prices
March 27, 08The 6th Dubai City of Gold Conference, an initiative of the Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group, will discuss current issues within the gold industry and will aim to integrate efforts across the value chain to collectively face the challenges of rising prices, a supply crunch and an onslaught from the luxury industry.
The two-day event, to be held April 12-13, will feature a number of speakers, including Ian MacDonald, executive director for gold and precious metals at the DMCC and Paul Walker, CEO – Gold of GFMS Limited, who will present the “2008 Gold Survey Results.”
Other speakers will include Moaz Barakat, managing director (Middle East, Turkey and Pakistan) of the World Gold Council, who will discuss Turkey’s gold industry and rising gold prices; CIBJO President Gaetano Cavalieri, who will speak on marketing fine jewelry, and Mark Van Bockstael, chief officer international affairs of the AWDC, whose speech is entitled, “Five years into the Kimberley Process.”
In addition, the conference will focus on training and education, certification processes and adopting innovative retailing to maintain standards of services, and will also feature panel discussions such as “Gold Forecasts and Price Trends.”
