Tara Jewels Launches Own Retail Outlets in India
December 02, 08Tara Jewels has launched its own retail outlets in India, opening a store in Goa in late October and another in Pune in December. The company plans to open 50 stores across India over the next two years.
The firm, a DTC Sightholder and leading Indian diamond and jewelry manufacturer, plans to open two more stores in the near future, in Mumbai and Chandigarh. The store in Pune is in association with Chamadia Enterprises.
Other locations where stores will be opened in the first phase of the plan are Raipur, Delhi and a couple of cities and towns in South India.
According to Sales Manager Priti Shah, “We aim to have a presence in almost all the states in India and are concentrating more on tier II and III cities.”
“We intend being the neighborhood jeweler who stands for quality, simplicity and great value,” adds Rajeev Sheth, chairman of the company.
The Tara Jewels stores will stock both plain gold and studded jewelry in modern and traditional designs. This includes the Tara Smart Gold collection, a 14k gold jewelry made with gold tubes filled with other metals and alloys.
At the launch of the Pune store, a lucky draw was held with the winner getting a hand crafted pendant made in gold and Argentium silver using a one carat “Sable Black Diamond” and brilliant cut white diamonds.
The company’s SEEPZ based jewelry manufacturing unit, Tara Ultimo Pvt. Ltd. won an award as the second highest exporter of studded precious metal jewelry from an EPZ in 2007-08. The group had a turnover of Rs 12.43 billion in 2007 ($250 million).
