The BHP Billiton board on Tuesday announced that Jac Nasser will succeed Don Argus as chairman when Argus retires in early 2010. Nasser, the former resident and chief executive officer of the Ford Motor Company, joined the BHP Billiton board as a non-executive director in 2006 and is a member of the Board’s Risk and Audit Committee.
Nasser is also a partner of One Equity Partners, the private equity arm of JP Morgan, a director of British Sky Broadcasting plc and sits on the international advisory board of insurance firm Allianz A.G.
The decision to appoint Nasser, 61, followed an 18 month selection process.
