The European Business Awards selected Diamdel Antwerp to represent Belgium in the prestigious 2010 Awards program. Diamdel, one of fifteen companies representing the country, is the only diamond firm on the short list. It will now compete for a coveted Ruban d’Honneur in the next round of the competition.
In its fourth year, the European Business Awards has identified some of Europe’s brightest businesses based on their ability to demonstrate the three core principles at the heart of the Awards program: innovation, business excellence and sustainability.
Final category Award winners will be unveiled in Paris on 16th November.
“Diamdel has been operating in Antwerp for over 44 years in the diamond sector and it’s an honor to be recognized as one of the leading organizations in our country and in our field," said Diamdel CEO Neil Ventura.
Other companies from Belgium short listed for the award include beer maker Anheuser-Busch InBev, engineering firm DEME NV and technology developer Alcatel-Lucent Bell NV.
The entire list includes many banking, hi tech and telecomm firms. The only other representative from the diamond and jewelry industry is Bulgari S.p.A from Italy.
In 2009, the 99 Ruban d’Honneur recipients had a combined turnover greater than €570 billion and recorded an average annual profit growth of 56 percent.
