Gitanjali Opens First Lifestyle Retail Outlet in Mumbai

(IDEX Online News) - Diamond Trading Company (DTC) Sightholder Gitanjali Group, which has moved extensively downstream into retail across the world, opened its first Maya by Gitanjali Lifestyle store in Mumbai yesterday (Wednesday). The retail chain offers diamond jewelry as a part of a basket of multi-brand lifestyle products including apparel, watches, fashion accessories and footwear, all under one roof.

The chain currently has eight stores in key Indian cities and, according to a press release from the group, some 100 outlets, both company-owned and franchised, are planned in the next five years.

The Mumbai outlet, located at the Star Mall in mid-town Dadar, features a retail area of 8,000 sq. ft. and over 150 Indian and international brands. The diamond jewelry brands on offer include Gitanjali’s own Gili, Nakshatra, D’damas, Asmi, Sangini and Shuddhi among others.

Bollywood actress Prachi Desai inaugurated the store and modeled some of the group’s diamond jewelry. Gitanjali group vice president for retail Deepak Tulsian said at the inaugural, “With the opening of its first store in Mumbai, Maya hopes to offer the women of this city a unique and memorable shopping experience, of a kind they have rarely witnessed before. It is our way of showing appreciation for the modern Indian woman and the efforts she makes to balance her work and family life.”
