November 22, 11(IDEX Online News) - Global trade show organizer UBM, which runs the Hong Kong Jewellery Show among others, on Tuesday announced that the first edition of its Mumbai Jewellery & Gems Fair (MJGF) would run December 9-11 this year.
UBM India Managing Director Sanjeev Khaira said that he expected between 8,000 and 10,000 visitors at the show, which would feature 300 exhibitors. UBM, he said, had leveraged its international connections to ensure that show featured international pavilions from Belgium, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Japan, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
The All India Gems & Jewellery Trade Federation (GJF) is the show’s summit partner and said it welcomed the show. Ashok Minawala, speaking on the GJF’s behalf, said that the event “was great for the Indian industry.”
The GIA is the show’s knowledge partner and intends to run information and education initiatives at the show, because this was something the Indian retail industry needed very much, said Manoj Singhania, the GIA’s Director of Education for India.
