Israeli Firms Gearing up for September HK Fair

(IDEX Online News) – With 90 companies exhibiting, the Israel Diamond Pavilion will be one of the largest national pavilions at the upcoming Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair. In addition, a further 20 companies will be exhibiting throughout the show.
The Israel Diamond Institute group of companies (IDI) said that due to limited exhibition space, it could not accommodate all of the companies wanting to exhibit under its banner, leaving a waiting list of 20 companies.
Emphasizing the show’s importance to the Israeli industry, IDI will again sponsor the fair’s opening reception. In addition, the organization is a major sponsor of Jewellery News Asia’s JNA Awards, which will be presented at a ceremony to coincide with the show.
Asian markets, led by Hong Kong, are the most important growth area for the Israeli diamonds industry. Hong Kong is Israel’s second-largest market for polished diamonds after the United States, representing close to 30 percent of the country’s total polished diamond exports.
“We see Asia, with Hong Kong as its gateway, as a vast and largely untapped market for diamonds,” said IDI chairman Moti Ganz. “There is great wealth and a huge demand for luxury goods, including gold and diamond jewelry. Israeli diamonds are being very well received. There is tremendous potential for growth in these markets and we have only begun to scratch the surface.”
IDI chief marketing officer Nissim Palomo said the institute was actively promoting efforts to enhance trade relations with the region. “We are participating in three trade shows in Hong Kong and a show in Shanghai. Our representative office in Hong Kong assists Israeli diamond companies to bridge cultural and language gaps and advises them on business opportunities. In addition, our portal sites in English and Chinese promote direct ties between Israeli and Asian companies.”
Taking place just before the important buying seasons of Christmas, Diwali and the Chinese New Year, the September Hong Kong fair is one of the most important trade shows for reaching the Asian markets.
The September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair will take place from September 19-23.
