June Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair Gets Underway
June 19, 13(IDEX Online News) – The 26th June Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair opens today (Thursday). Organizers say there are a record 1,841 exhibitors from 37 countries and regions attending the show, which is the biggest in terms of exhibitors and exhibition space.
The Diamond Pavilion occupies Halls 3F, 3G and 5F and houses more than 400 diamantaires under the banner of the Antwerp World Diamond Council (AWDC), the Israel Diamond Institute (IDI), India, the United States, as well as diamantaires from the rest of the world.
“Despite the challenging global economy, demand for diamond jewelry is steadily increasing. Emerging economies such as China and India play a big part in this growth. The June Fair is the place to tap into these robust markets,” said Celine Lau, director of Jewellery Fairs, UBM Asia Ltd.
The show also marks the inauguration of a mobile app for the Hong Kong fairs. The app, which had a soft launch in May, enables participants to access important information, including updated floor plans, pavilion attractions, special events schedules and the latest jewelry news. The app is sponsored by the Antwerp World Diamond Centre.
To help buyers navigate the trade-show floor, exhibitors are grouped according to specialty or origin. This edition of the fair sees the addition of a Turkish Pavilion. The others are Antwerp, Brazil, mainland China, Germany, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand, the United States, Taiwan region and the International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA).
In addition, there are 12 theme pavilions including diamonds, pearls, gemstones and fine jewelry.
The four-day fair runs until June 23 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).
