Rio Tinto Names Jean-Marc Lieberherr as Head of Diamond Division
August 11, 13Lieberherr will take up the position of Managing Director, Diamonds, on September 1, where he will be responsible for all aspects of the Rio Tinto Diamonds division.
Lieberherr, who joined Rio Tinto Diamonds in 2005, was most recently Chief Commercial Officer of the firm.
His appointment is part of a restructuring of the company following its decision earlier this year to retain the diamond business. The restructure also includes was the consolidation of diamond mining operations under Kim Truter who will be appointed Chief Operating Officer for the firm's diamond business, reporting to Jean-Marc Lieberherr.
Truter is currently Managing Director of the Argyle diamond mine in Australia, and was previously President of the Diavik diamond mine in Canada.
