Indian Polished Diamond Exports Up 36% in August

(IDEX Online News) – India's polished diamond exports jumped 36 percent on the year to $1.92 billion in August, the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) reported in provisional data.
For the first fiscal year so far (April to August), India's polished diamond exports surged 37.4 percent to $8.57 billion.
Imports of polished goods surged by 45 percent to $524.8 million, in August, and by 81.5 percent to $2.70 billion in the April to August period.
Rough diamond imports surged 32.5 percent year on year to $681.6 million in August, and by 29.3 percent in April-August.
Exports of rough diamonds dropped 16.1 percent to $134.7 million, but for the April to August period soared 29.8 percent to $763.8 million.
