Rio Tinto Posts 'Strong Results' From Tender of Large Stones
November 05, 13Diamonds greater than 10.8 carats in gem qualities qualify to be a “Special” and Rio Tinto’s rough diamonds, mined in Australia, Canada and Zimbabwe, all contributed to the collection offered for tender in Antwerp and Israel during October.
The collection included 104 parcels of diamonds notable for large fancy cognac diamonds from the Argyle mine in Western Australia.
The most valuable diamond was a 74-carat diamond from the Murowa mine in Zimbabwe.
More than 100 diamond specialists from around the world were invited to bid at the tender via Rio Tinto Diamonds' online bidding platform, with 34 companies being successful and strong representation from Israeli firms.
