IDE Trading Hall Packed As Diamond Week Officially Opened
April 07, 14IDE President Shmuel Schnitzer said that foreign buyers had arrived from 20 countries.
Diamond Dealers Club of New York President Reuven Kaufman thanked the IDE and the Israel Diamond Institute for organizing and holding the Diamond Week.
“The fact that the American and Israeli bourses are coming together to hold these diamond week events is giving a boost to the diamond industry,” Kaufman said. “It is bringing back the close relationships that we used to have in previous years.”
Most of the delegation of buyers from the DDC are due to arrive at the event on Monday.
Renowned Italian jewelry designer and manufacturer Roberto Coin, the IDE’s Special Guest of Honor, also joined in the opening ceremony.
Among the highlights of the event is the Rainbow Collection, a unique collection of some 300 fancy colored diamonds owned by the renowned Belgian diamantaire Eddy Elzas.
Elzas said that it was unlikely that the diamonds in the collection could be replaced for even $300 million.
At the end of the Diamond Week, the collection will be exhibited to the public at large at the Harry Oppenheimer Diamond Museum in Ramat Gan until April 26.
