Diamond Trading Begins Today On Istanbul Stock Exchange
October 01, 14(IDEX Online News) – Diamond trading began today on the Istanbul Stock Exchange with initial trading volume of $284,000, according to the Turkish precious metal producers association.
The head of the group, Ayhan Guner, made the first trade, it said in a statement, Bloomberg News reported.
Turkey has lifted tax on diamond trading for members of the Istanbul Stock Exchange, thus opening the way for registered diamond transactions, Guner said in the statement.
Turkish jewelry-makers now have access to legally bought stones with international certificates, he said. Only unregistered and illegally imported stones were previously available, Guner explained.
