New Artisanal Diamond Mining Rights Granted in Angola
March 12, 15(IDEX Online News) – Two private consortiums have been granted rights for artisanal diamond mining in the north of Angola. According to macauhub.com, the area covers nearly 500 square kilometers.
The rights were granted to Organização de Exploração Artesanal e Semi-Industrial de Diamantes (the Organisation for Artisanal and Semi-Industrial Diamonds Exploration – OEASID) in the Cuango basin, and to the Nharea Diamond cooperative, in the Dando Kwanza area.
The mining areas are divided into two. The first extends for 187 square kilometers and the second covers 306 square kilometers, between the provinces of Lunda Norte and Lunda Sul.
Macauhub reports that the concessions can be mined using semi-industrial equipment.
