Hatton Garden Vault Heist Firm Shuts Down
September 01, 15(IDEX Online News) – The safety deposit box firm at the center of the Hatton Garden jewelry heist it to close its doors due to lost trade following the audacious Easter weekend robbery.
The Hatton Garden Safe Deposit, which is owned by Sudan-based Mahendra Bavishi, and his son Manish, appointed accountancy firm SPW as liquidators on 24 August, according to reports in The Guardian.
“Following the robbery, trade dried up and they applied for company voluntary liquidation. The company is insolvent and it can no longer carry on trading. We are now taking steps to close the company down,” said Sunney Sagoo, senior insolvency administrator at SPW, as quoted by the newspaper.
“It went into liquidation to preserve the company’s assets and safeguard the deposit boxes.”
A total of 13 defendants are due to appear at Woolwich crown court in London on Friday, charged in connection with the incident.
