Nate Light to Receive D.E.F. Lifetime Achievement Award
March 06, 16(IDEX Online News) – Nathan R. “Nate” Light, former CEO of Sterling Jewelers Inc., will receive the Diamond Empowerment Fund’s (D.E.F.) first “Diamonds Do Good” Lifetime Achievement Award.
The “Diamond Do Good” Lifetime Achievement Award is to acknowledge the body of work of individual, who has promoted the importance of social purpose programs and charitable giving.
Light has been active since the 1980s, beginning with the Foundation Fighting Blindness, and then helping to organize the industry’s “Party with a Purpose” at JCK in Las Vegas in 1994, which was a forerunner of Jewelers For Children “Facets of Hope” gala.
Light joined Sterling Jewelers in 1977, helping the company to grow from a modest 32-store chain, to one with more than 1,000 outlets. Sterling is a unit of Signet Jewelers, whose commitment to philanthropy, including support for Jewelers for Children, American Cancer Society, American Heart Society and the D.E.F. has continued.
The award will be presented at a gala awards event in Las Vegas on June 2.
