Scio Diamonds Returns to Full Production
April 12, 16(IDEX Online News) – US-based diamond grower Scio Diamonds has announced that its South Carolina factory has returned to full production following its December shutdown.
In its third quarter report, the company said that it had experienced a water line break at its facility on December 12, causing damage to diamond growers and a significant interruption to production. Within a number of days the factory had begun to operate a number of growers, but at much reduced capacity. Scio expects a significant increase in output in March and April as the diamonds from the restored growers complete their growth cycle.
"We are pleased to report that our Greenville, SC factory has returned to full growing capacity following the December water line break. All growers have been repaired and are back in production," said Scio Diamond president and CEO Gerald McGuire.
"Our team, equipment suppliers and insurance company have worked seamlessly and tirelessly together to bring us back to full production in a remarkable amount of time. We are very appreciative of their efforts."
