Christie’s Sells Joan Rivers Collection for $2 Million
June 27, 16(IDEX Online News) – Auction house Christie’s announced that it recently sold several items owned by the late comedian Joan Rivers for $2.2 million, according to a report in The Observer.
The highlight of the sale was a 19th century jeweled gold-mounted Nephrite Fabergé photograph frame, which sold for $245,000 and well in excess of its $60,000 pre-sale estimate.
The online auction also included more of Rivers’ jewelry, costume and handbags. Among the collection were Victorian enameled brooches, Iradj Moini necklaces and jewels from Harry Winston.
A percentage of the profits from the sales will be donated to the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association and God’s Love We Deliver, but the auction house would not reveal what amount.
The Emmy-award winning talk show host passed away in September 2014.
