Dominion Appoints New Directors
August 17, 16(IDEX Online News) – Dominion Diamond Corporation has announced the appointment of Trudy Curran and Tim Dabson to its board of directors – bringing the total number of directors to nine.
Curran, who has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, financing, executive compensation and governance across a range of industries including oil and gas, mining and transportation, will also take on the role of chair of the health, safety, and environmental committee. She holds a BA (with distinction) and an LLB (with distinction) from the University of Saskatchewan and is the recipient of the Governor General’s Bronze medal award. Curran was also named one of Canada’s top 100 Most Powerful Women in 2012.
Dabson is a 35-year diamond industry veteran, holding positions throughout the value chain. He worked for De Beers for 33 years, most recently as executive director – beneficiation, culminating in the transfer of the company’s distribution activities from London to Gaborone, Botswana, at the end of 2013. Following his stint with De Beers, Dabson established an independent consultancy for projects across the diamond pipeline. He holds a BSc (Honors) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Brighton.
Dominion chairman of the board James Gowans welcomed the two new appointments, saying that their combined experience across the diamond industry value chain would be strong additions to the board.
