Diamond Dealers Club of New York, GJEPC Hold Fifth India Diamond Week
August 24, 16(IDEX Online News) – The Diamond Dealers Club (DDC) of New York, in conjunction with the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), hosted over 60 exhibitors and several hundred buyers at its fifth India Diamond Week on the DDC’s trading floor in Manhattan this week.
“This edition of the show, as in the past, has been a success. We welcomed diamantaires from India to our trading floor in order to create new connections, build on existing relationships, and generate success for our industry,” said DDC President, Reuven Kaufman.
“This year we have witnessed the successful relationships that have been built over previous editions of India Diamond Week. There is a more familiar atmosphere amongst exhibitors and show goers who have come to know each other well over the past few years.
"Companies that otherwise would not have had the ability to do business together now look forward to catching up at the show, viewing goods in person, and continuing to work together throughout the year.”
Alpesh Bambhrolia, from Dirgh Diamond, said: “This is our second time at the India Diamond Week. The people are really responsive. The show is going good and we’ve sold a bunch and met new people. We would definitely come back.”
Harshit Shah has been coming from Excel Overseas since the first India Diamond Week in 2014. Shah says the show provides them with, “a constant supply and constant clients. This is one of the biggest consumer markets in the world. We’re doing good here. We plan to come back. Those who have goods are selling and we are positive about the market.”
After joining the DDC a year ago, Kalpesh Jhaveri, K.R. Gems & Diamonds Int’l, has exhibited at the past two India Diamond Weeks. “It’s a way to come meet new people and suppliers,” said Jhaveri. “I’ve made good connections by coming to this show, both here and overseas. It’s convenient that people are all here. It’s a good place to be.”
