New Italian Exhibition Group Accredited At UN For Promoting CSR in Jewelry Supply Chain
January 14, 17(IDEX Online) – The Italian Exhibition Group Spa (IEG), the new trade show company created via a merger between Rimini Fiera and Fiera di Vicenza, has been awarded formal accreditation through CIBJO, the World Jewellery Confederation, from the UN's Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), for promoting and implementing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities in the jewelry and precious metal and gemstone supply chain.
Representing the Italian Exhibition Group at the meetings with senior United Nations officials at the organization's headquarters in New York, together with CIBJO President Gaetano Cavalieri, were IEG’s Vice Executive President Matteo Marzotto and Managing Director Corrado Facco.
IEG's accreditation at ECOSOC is mainly for its work at the VicenzaOro gold and jewelry shows over the past several years. IEG, which from January 20 to 25, 2017, will be staging this year’s first edition of VicenzaOro, has inherited the role played by Fiera di Vicenza, and is about to embark on its own mission to contribute directly to ethical, environmental and corporate social responsibility policies, under the ECOSOC umbrella, the firm said in a statement.
Matteo Marzotto said: “We feel highly honored by this recognition, which represents further confirmation of the status that our group and VicenzaOro has achieved, thanks in particular to the fruitful collaboration with CIBJO, in spreading the culture of CSR, with its social and economic implications, along the entire supply chain. As a contemporary provider of exhibition services and content, we are constantly engaged in creating value for our stakeholders, a task that, nowadays, cannot help but pay considerable attention to sustainability and responsibility. CSR is a fundamental asset for the jewelry sector too, not only representing the right ethical direction that should be followed by companies, but also as a conscious and strategic strategy for generating consumer loyalty.”
To focus attention on the themes involved in CSR, the recurring theme of VICENZAORO this month will be Responsible Gold. Two seminars will be held on the subject. The first in collaboration with CIBJO, will focus on the means and methods of ensuring responsible sourcing in the jewelry supply chain. The second will examine traceability.
Moreover, this edition of VICENZAORO January will see the presentation of the Jewellery Corporate Social Responsibility Award, which is given to the company or person that is best judged to have made Corporate Social Responsibility, respect for human rights and ethical, social and environmental aspects within the gold and jewelry world the hallmark of their success. The award will be made as part of the fifth edition of the Andrea Palladio International Jewellery Awards, which, on January 20 will be announced by an illustrious international jury, celebrating the best of international jewelry in its various categories.
