India Posts Strong Rise In Polished Diamond Exports In March
May 07, 17(IDEX Online) – India's polished exports in March were $1.87 billion, a rise of 10.2 percent on the year.
Polished exports for the April 1, 2016 to March 2017 period surged 10.2 percent to $22.8 billion, according to the figures released by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC).
Polished imports rose 11 percent to $289.3 million in March, but declined by 5.1 percent to $2.63 billion for the April 1, 2016 to March 2017 period.
Meanwhile, net exports of all gems and jewelry jumped by 22 percent in March to $3.05 billion, and increased by 9 percent to $35.5 billion in the April 1, 2016 to March 2017 period.
The GJEPC said that imports of rough jumped by 21.6 percent in March to $1.60 billion, and for the April 2016 to March 2017 soared by 21.6 percent to $17.1 billion.
