Graff Diamonds Cuts Unveils 60 Stones Cut From 1,109-Carat Lesedi La Rona
November 12, 18(IDEX Online) – Graff Diamonds has unveiled more than 60 polished diamonds that were cut the 1,109 carat Lesedi La Rona stone, the largest rough diamond found in more than a century.
Graff said that following more than a year of detailed analysis, cutting and polishing by its team of gemologists and master craftsmen, diamonds ranging in size from under one carat to in excess of 100 carats have been produced. Graff paid Lucara Diamond Corp $53 million for the rough stone in September last year.
"Graff’s designers have envisaged a collection of striking rings, earrings and pendants that celebrate the extraordinary provenance of the Lesedi La Rona diamonds at their heart," the firm said.
Each of the diamonds has been certified by the GIA as having a top D color, and exceptional clarity, and all are laser inscribed with Graff, Lesedi La Rona and their unique GIA number which cannot be seen by the naked eye.
