Alrosa's May Sales Steady at $365m
June 10, 21(IDEX Online) - Alrosa today reported $365m sales of rough and polished for May, down slightly from $401m in April.
Monthly sales since the start of the year have been steady, averaging $365m. By way of comparison, De Beers has averaged rough sales of $408m at the four sights completed so far this year.
Alrosa says demand remains strong from the Indian midstream and is "robust" in all key regions.
"Despite epidemiological situation in April and early May, which demonstrates substantial improvement since then, cutters and polishers fully adopted and are able to process all available volumes of rough diamonds," said deputy CEO Evgeny Agureev.
"End-demand for diamond jewelry remains robust in all key regions. For the first four months of the year jewelry sales exceeded pre-COVID levels of 2019 by 30% in USA, and by 10% in China."
