CIBJO Wraps Up Bangkok Conference

Some 150 members of the international jewelry and gemstone sectors from 26 countries wrapped up three days of talks at the 2004 congress of CIBJO-The World Jewellery Confederation in Bangkok today (Wednesday).

Among the subjects debated were High Pressure-High Temperature (HPHT) diamond treatments, synthetic diamonds, corundum and pearl treatments, the Kimberley Process and Best Practice Principles.

Also presented at the conference was a new vision for CIBJO itself which is committed to increasing its public profile so as better promote its programs of action. Several changes were introduced to the organization’s statutes so as to streamline its operations.

CIBJO is an international confederation of jewelry and gemstone trade organizations and the only global umbrella body for all the sectors involved in the manufacturing and sale of precious metals, jewelry, diamonds and colored gemstones.
