Israel To Hold Fourth International Diamond Week In September
May 15, 14(IDEX Online News) – The fourth edition of the International Diamond Week to be held by the Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) will take place from September 1-4, the event organizing committee said in a statement.
"The Spring edition, held last month, was a great success and we're planning to continue and hold these semi-annual events and create more diamond trading opportunities for our members and their international clientele, for many years to come," said IDE President Shmuel Schnitzer.
He added that 452 buyers from more than 20 countries had visited the IDE trading floor during the International Diamond Week last month. "With the help of cutting edge technology, we knew how many buyers were in the buildings and on the trading floor at any time during the five-day event. In April, we employed a new, advanced security system that has a facial recognition program at its core.
“Called In Motion Identification, this cutting-edge computer software program will continue to uphold the highest level of security in the buildings and on the floor, while at the same time letting these measures impact as little as possible on what our members and the international buyers come to do here at the IDE: business," he said.
IDE General Manager Moti Besser reported that 107 of the visiting buyers were first-time visitors to the exchange and, possibly, to Israel. "As we have begun our work ahead of the September edition of the International Diamond Week, we are going to exert ourselves and try to bring more first-time buyers of diamonds to Israel," Besser stated.
