Jewelers Mutual Loss Prevention Video Stresses Logging Suspicious Incidents

(IDEX Online News) – Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company has launched a loss prevention video as part of its Secure Business Series. The video emphasizes training in-store team members to become aware of suspicious behaviour and shows them how to record it in a logbook.

The video suggests that immediately after a suspicious incident, an associate should log the date and time, behavior and the identifying characteristics of the individuals and any vehicles involved. By doing so, staff may be able to determine patterns, and share that information with local law enforcement.

According to Jewelers Mutual, in the majority of crimes against jewelry businesses, criminals will almost always case the premises, potentially involving several visits to identify weaknesses and potential opportunities.
