ALROSA Announces Jump in Rough Diamond Sales in August
September 25, 16(IDEX Online) β Rough diamond sales by the ALROSA Group in August amounted to $243.0 million, 58% higher than August 2015.
Polished diamond sales over the same period amounted to $6.3 million.
In July 2016, ALROSA sold rough and polished diamonds worth $306.7 million compared with $203.1 million a year ago.
In the first eight months of 2016, rough diamond sales were $3.09 billion, 23% higher than in January-August 2015.
Polished diamond sales in January-August 2016 amounted to $70.5 million, 18% lower than the first eight months of 2015.
Sales of rough and polished diamonds together by the ALROSA Group for January-August 2016 came to $3.161 billion, 21% higher than in 2015.
In January-August 2016, the company sold 25.398 million carats of rough diamonds compared with 20.588 million carats in the similar period of 2015.
ALROSA notes a stable market recovery trend after 2015, however, the company's market outlook is still moderately conservative.
βIn August 2016, the company observed no seasonal slump in demand for rough diamonds characteristic of this month,β said Yury Okoemov, ALROSA Vice President.
