Lucapa Sells Lulo Mine Diamonds for $8.3 Million

November 07, 16 by Albert Robinson

(IDEX Online) – Lucapa Diamond said it sold 1,864 carats of rough diamonds from the Lulo diamond mine in Angola for $8.3 million.

The sale achieved a per carat price of $4,452, the firm said in a statement

The sale generated the highest ever total for a sale of Lulo goods, apart from the 404-carat diamond sold for $16 million in February, "underlining the continued strong demand for the large premium-value diamonds being produced at Lulo," the company announced.

The latest sale brings to $44.8 million the amount generated so far this year, with an average price per carat of $3,132.

Due to strong production levels, there will likely be another sale of rough goods before the end of the year.
