Angola October Exports Drop 16.9%
December 01, 15(IDEX Online News) – Diamond exports from Angola dropped 16.9 percent year-over-year in October. During the month, the country exported 624,000 carats of goods valued at $86.1 million (-40.4 percent), or $138 per carat, reported macahub.
In October 2014, the country’s exports totaled 751,100 carats, valued at $144.5 million, at an average price per carat of $192, according to figures from the Ministry of Geology and Mines.
While exports were down, production was up 9.7 percent to 800,000 carats.
Production was led by the Catoca mine, which produced 576,776 carats, according to macahub.
